When u pull a lot of people, and YUM YUM or chromemusic does that, you will always have people who will try to make a quick buck with you. What you do is you compromise your integrity, for the sake of someone taking additional work off your hands. But most of the times that work is done or provided with so much diletantism. When folks, and we are talking nightlife people here, do too many things and do not have a clear communication – things will never work out right. You will compromise and people will only see you or in this case YUM YUM being responsible for it, while we are actually only the guys providing the music and setting the dance and making this thing work in the first place!

So this is no apology, but a hooray for last Saturdays party at Praterinsel in Munich!! In my opinion the best thing i have been to or played at in at least 2-3 years. The vibe was all there. Our crew made lively, beautiful decorations, had an amazing light going, we set a great vibe, left enough room for everyone to dance, assembled an awesome bar crew, had a great bar running, had a great outdoor area with a proper bbq and countless lovely, smiley-faced people showed up. We even managed to have great accoustics in a beautiful building that otherwise sounds like a cathedral. It was all there. A proper and massive dance we all call YUM YUM.

This was a dance just like YUM YUMs supposed to be! I am really proud of that bc this was the first time we did it all by ourselves! No partnerships, like in the last 2 years. We were making too many compromises while all we had to do, was do our own thing instead of teaming up with anyone! Not saying we shouldnt team up with anyone, we should when there is a neccessity. But this was just us and it was wonderful!!1

So many beautiful people turned up and although it was completely packed, there was enough room for everyone to get his (or in our case) her dance on. What an amazing night – what a massive dance with so many positive folks doing their thing, but there is still room for improvement and that makes me smile, bc i am happy to be playing the YUM YUM sound in such an environment, surrounded by great folks and with such a vibe and to know we can still do far, far better!!!. And on a different personal note: I was able to play the way i want to to without having to compromise to some shitty soundsystem or play entrely big room material, or people get mad at us for lack of toilets or a crappy wardrobe  or..or..or.. (the list of crap compromises i had to take as a dj was long for the past 2 years). When i am free to do my thing, i know i can deliver the goods. It almost felt like i forgot the taste of freedom.. hahahaha… just kidding, but what an uplifting moment! I am loving every minute of it.

When i stopped the (djwise) a bit too girlish sounding foreplay and kicked it off, the atmosphere was that of a festival or a great live show! With people singing and jumping silly EVERYWHERE, it was live!!! Thats why we are doing YUM YUM! Thank you all for being who you are and for making it mine! We will raise the flag even more, next time.. in a few weeks.

PS. The next YUM YUM in Munich will be in the next few weeks on June 3rd – i will let u know his week!

Main Flow “Understand”. Great Hip Hop tune, from Main Flow, a name i only remember from the dark ages of record stores, lol. I really dig this soulful little gem they have dropped not too long ago. Seems that they/he (?) have understood the times as well since they offer their new album as a free download (dwnld  Return Of The Castle right here) and also started giving away their music for free, just like everyone else that has caught on these days. Its actually 4-5 years late to start doing that now, and it should be common sense if you are an underground act and want to get noticed, but it seems to be still surprising to people, when they talk about free music and (for example) kanye west and how he is releasing a new free song every friday. well, me think, it should be normal. I am all up for selling music and giving it away for free at the same time, what this causes, is actually a psychological factor. You will only get people to buy your music that really want to buy your music, and maybe only one song that they like from that artist instead of the whole album, not like it used to be in the 90ies, when people were more or less forced to buy full cds and its was a huge business with a structurized ponzi scheme behind it. After all it should be considered art first, and when you take it as such and consider that technology fundamentally changed the way younger (and older) generations listen to music it simply defies any logic that you want to sell them outdated and actually useless crap (cds). Its reminiscent of the auto industry and everything else that simply didnt stand the test of time. A fight for survival for these industries, and industries do not equal people. It might equal jobs at a certain point, but when a job becomes useless like a carriage driver, well you have either to become a cab driver or do something else. So that argument is not valid on so many levels. And hierarchical structures like any industry has, always fight for the survival of the pyramids top first. So what it really is is a struggle to keep the money going into the already fat pockets of the big executives and not saving jobs. The human plead is always undertaken by the most dis-humane of all (a quote i think from Gandhi or Mother Theresa, keep that one in mind in every argument). A dishonest argument always leads to more mistrust. So how can you trust someone who is manipulatively screwing with you? You can’t – and its against every logical idea planted in man to do so. And one more point before i let you hear the song: How do you explain a 10 y old to pay for a song when he is listening to it on his cell phone and it came out of thin air?

It simply doesn’t make any sense.

A short story that happened last week:

Look i made this folk remix of Europes Überanthem Alors on Danse not too long ago, Stromae is a good friend of chromemusic and we were the first ones last summer to start promoting his tune before he even got signed and brought him over to Berlin and bla, bla etc, etc. When Joe told me today my remix hit the #1 spot on the hypem charts, i was real glad, but he also said i wouldnt like it. (When i first posted my mix – it was barely 2 dozen people that “hearted” it. Got great feedback though, not only when i played it out but also the manager of “Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly” Paul Bonham wrote me how much he liked the tune and many more people etc.)

Along comes this blog called “duurt-lang.nl” grabs the remix off our blog and it hits the #1 spot on hypem. Great news, cool guys and thanks guys.  Oh and by the way: they deleted my name, the name of the remix, the pic & most the tags my mp3 had. Most blogs add their tags to other blogs mp3s but always keep the names of all the artists on it (and the remixers)! Not them. They simply erased me and everything that said chromemusic, not on some random mp3 but on our own remix!

So no credit where a little credit is due! Thanks a lot duuuhhh-lang.nl - i made it a remix you made it a nameless mashup. Honestly i was disappointed big time by these guys and not much i could do about it, except salute all the guys that left gangsta comments on their blog post – it was a joy reading that (to be honest).

It was a moronic thing to do, but them guys from duuuuuh-lang apologized and re-upped it, which of course is a cool move but doesnt help once the tune has left the #1 position. damage is done, the benefit of sharing equals zero to us now.  So cool blog indie shuffle has re-upped it as well (i salute you) with a proper mp3 tag and the mp3 they got from the dutch blog – thx guys, but this ones not gonna go back to the #1 spot. So let me re-up it as well (with the usual ‘artist vs artist’ crap, so that people pick up on it). Totally Ducks sick!

Friday nights party (which we featured alongside others) was a good example of what i am gonna write about here. I have this website and all i/we do and do gladly is to do uplifting things because we like it, and not just for the sake of it – so we don’t book deejays/bands unless it really makes sense to our cause or we are close with someone. So we gladly support good things, music, cool locations, acts that we “feel” good about – and that is the keyword.

As of lately we have supported a lot of things that we didn’t feel too “YUM YUM” about and i can name them right here: “One is top friend in munich which headed into a direction where we didn’t even feel to good about it, and we need to change that or else i do not like to go there myself. That feeling of family and fun needs to be there.. which it has definitely lost. I am having a hard time featuring something on this site that doesn’t have that feeling of family and warmth, simply a good feeling. I have never been doing things just to be in a certain crowd. I Rather go create my own reality… You know that. A lot of things have to change here before i can label it part of what this website and me/we are about. Second is Klassentreffen, which is a party we feature bc it hosts nice acts, but has definitely up until now nothing to do with chromemusic besides friends running it. So that has to change as well – and it will with Chiddy Bang playing there in 2 weeks (and i consider X the producer/rapper of Chiddy to be a really cool dude). So thats of to a great start. AAaand if these things don’t change – well we have other things to do.

Change always starts with oneself and therefore i am gonna be hell more picky with what chromemusic as a website supports, as of right now!

Back to Friday nights party which was a Co-op between Die Registatur aka buddy Brane, Team from hell (superpaper, Horses, cars & starts ec), Crux – which is run by two of our djs anyways, and of course me/us as the website supporting it. The whole party was done, more as an accidental thing, after 3 locations have been cancelled. So next time if we have to do another short notice i will rather cancel it before trying to push it through just to do anyone a favour.

And a purely electronic party or a regular hiphop, or mashup party or whatever, has nothing to do with us – the versatiliy needs to be there (and the location as well) – so i am not blaming the guys playing – at all – its more the entire surrounding and way it was put up. chromemusic can support a House night if it fits the environment, a hiphp party (again) if it fits int hat surrounding, no problemo – but not if there is no fun going on and the vibes are all big room and cool clubland like. Fuck that! All the guys involved moved heaven and hell to get this thing of the ground within 3 days.. and worked their ass of for a mediocre party??? i mean it was packed and all that but the vibes were more like the last black eyed peas cd than anything else….Well thats not what we are about.. and if i catch me asking myself what i am doing there (and i did, about a hundred times last friday) – well that does show me -> that whole thing had NADA to do with us. And i cant support that! even retrospectively!

And all the guys involved know their way around (come on Team from Hell, Registratur, Crux these kids are pros) and so a not satisfying night was gnawing at my soul. Change starts right here right now! Fuck that! I won’t even call it change – That BS stops right here – right NOW!

So from now on, if its labeld chromemusic, at least one of these guys has to play there: Schowi, Max Mausser, Schu, Notfx, Dan Gerous, Tand Williams, Palina, Q and me —- and we know what to do.

i had one of the worst dj nights ever yesterday… (exaggerating)

i was playing with a nice guy.. his sound wouldnt just fit in. but i wasnt there to just cut him off and do my normal arrogant approach of just taking the eff over – and even though the sound was nothing the party promised it to be, i guess at times you cant just take fucking control over everything and have nothing better to offer – i am just not cut out for playing 4/4 or any other sound for hours and hours.
i want it to change constantly and be alive – cause thats what music is – its empowering, gives you a great feeling, is mentally and spiritually uplifting. it strikes a chord in your soul and lets you fuel your motor with positive energy. (ps i am not touching that other shit)

yesterday, it simply didnt feel like i belonged there – I dont like – and i repeat – i dont like to play an hour of the same monotoneous tempo – i am hell tired of 4 to the floor tunes after 30 min, or any other style.
i like to play fucking good music and i like to play all styles all the time and simulataneously – cant have that rubbish going on for too long – i need a hip hop beat backed by some rock tune, backed by some dubstep, some folk music – yeah some surfer shit, followed by some reggae by some disco, some uk funky and so forth. You guys know me and you heard my mixtapes, and everywhere i go it seems the mixtapes have allready been there.

i do not diversify by genres or styles, by undergound or pop. these are just mental labels to help someone determine who he or she thinks he is. That is so childish and its doing exactly the opposite. Wake the fuck up!

i laugh at people who eat the same shit every day – but this is in no sense any better.
