A friend of mine has this new initiative to help Haiti, he runs a global clean water initiative and this is what he is looking to provide to the people of Haiti who have fallen victim to last weeks catastrophy. Read his words and help.

“Dear friends,

Many of you have watched the devastation in Haiti this past week. I am setting up a special dedicated fund for those of you who would like to contribute directly to giving clean water back to Haiti.

After such a natural disaster, the main needs of the people revolve around, shelter, basic food and water as well as medical aid. Clean water is critical in the early days of such a tragedy.

I have already developed some reliable contacts and can assure that these funds go directly to providing much needed clean water to the people of Haiti.

Please visit the web site www.globalh2o.org and help by donating spare change for clean water today, or you can access the donation forms directly here: https://thewildefoundation.sagefundraisingonline.com/haiti

Thanks,
James Wilde

If you think Paranormal Activity was freightening, you haven’t seen this documentary yet. Not available anywhere in central europe so google it and put a “rapidshare.com/files” behind it.

I have been talking about this for some time now and getting on peoples nerves about it, but this thing (the peak oil) is taking place, no doubt about it. This is a guy who can see through the matrix but still you can argue about this or that – but its definitely a joy to listen to Michale Ruppert speak in his unpretionious, well educated and extremly well researched kind of way. AND i you are in the mood for more info read his latest piece “Something evil comes this way“go to — lifeaftertheoilcrash.net

or google Howard J Kunstler or go to my favourite blog ever: idleworm

Go see this thing…

Fast Food Inc Trailer

Trailer for an important movie: the truth about what you are eating.

Ps Go to the movies website and sign the petition.

food_inc_2

This is what they have to say about their movie:

“In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, herbicide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won’t go bad, but we also have new strains of E. coli—the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73,000 Americans annually. We are riddled with widespread obesity, particularly among children, and an epidemic level of diabetes among adults.

Featuring interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation), Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto) along with forward thinking social entrepreneurs like Stonyfield’s Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms’ Joel Salatin, Food, Inc. reveals surprising—and often shocking truths—about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.”

Fast Food Inc has an unbelievable 97% rating over at Rotten Tomatoes.

Or as the New York Times said in its movie review: Meet your new Farmer – hungry Corporate Giant

some thoughts:

“What a good thing i stopped eating meat and most processed foods a long time ago, when you see who you support by just being alive and consuming food – you have to be picky, considerate and support the little guy – the local farmers street stand next to you – if there is any and if not, create a demand for one. The western world consists of nations and millions (bilions?) of people, medicated, on drugs, unaware and walking and acting in life like they were zombies. Take a look at our so called leaders – they are being kept alive by machines, drugs and other horrible things that are strong enough to make an impact on their otherwise dead bodies and minds. These are our leaders? These people are delusional – they are not here with you in the same moment, they only react anymore. And they decide whats best for us? Thats like letting a dicabetic be the general surgeon. See the supermarkets for what they are – giant drug stores filled with chemicals to make you addictive to products. So wake up everything you have been told is a lie, none of that stuff is true and it is harming your body, mind – it is actually killing you and it is legal. Its immoral, illegal and unacceptable to question authority. Sound familiar?”

“If only we could change all that, we after all have all the power in numbers. if only we had any means of organizing ourselves – like some two-way medium or some universally connected communicational device. Like some net to connect us all. Oh…. wait… we do > big buisness you are going down.” The net generation will down an big buisness player that takes away from the evolutionary step ot the consumer to the prosumer and, that dictates just the tiniest fraction of business, that doesnt meet demands and expeactions with godspeed and that doesnt have intergrity from the ground up. This is already happening.

Phhhh. I am going down to the market to get me some fruits.

Iran election protest Manchester

This Sunday I attended the protest against the atrocities occurring in Iran. The protest took place in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester City Centre. It was a peaceful protest and although people were clearly very upset and concerned about the issue at hand, there was absolutely no trouble at all. As a sign of support, we brought down strips of green material and handed them out amongst the demonstrators, the colour now being synonymous with the opposition party fighting for freedom in Iran.

We seemed to be the only white Brits at the demo, and I was pretty disappointed not to see more faces in the crowd showing support… however it was clear that the Iranians attending the demo were very appreciative to see at least a couple of us standing with them.

I found the whole thing to be extremely moving, the most striking thing was the amount of people covering their faces to protect their identities, obviously concerned that their presence may cause trouble for family and friends in Iran.

Not being a Farsi* speaker I couldn’t follow most of the protests, but this only gave me time to reflect on how I would feel if it were my family and countrymen in a similar situation. We should all be thankful for our freedoms, not everyone is as lucky as us.

You can show support by changing your Twitter pic green here

Our thoughts are with the people of Iran.

Flow – for the Love of Water (MUST SEE)

26. January 2009 by chrome

Absolutely one of the best documentaries i have seen in recent times. Shocking and gripping. Since there is no way we can get a hold of this movie in Germany – Watch this movie here. More info about the movie: Flow on imdb.

About the movie:

Irena Salina’s award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century – The World Water Crisis.

Salina builds a case against the growing privatization of the world’s dwindling fresh water supply with an unflinching focus on politics, pollution, human rights, and the emergence of a domineering world water cartel.

Interviews with scientists and activists intelligently reveal the rapidly building crisis, at both the global and human scale, and the film introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits behind the water grab, while begging the question “CAN ANYONE REALLY OWN WATER?”

Beyond identifying the problem, FLOW also gives viewers a look at the people and institutions providing practical solutions to the water crisis and those developing new technologies, which are fast becoming blueprints for a successful global and economic turnaround.

On December 10th, 2008 FLOW was invited to screen at the United Nations as part of the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights. Watch the video here:  FLOW at the UN

if the world could vote the US president

if the world could vote the US president

What the hell is wrong with albania and the former yugoslavian republic of macedonia? Is just out of respect for the elderly that they are pro McCain?

Ps i am really tired of the whole media coverage. Mccains evil and Obamas a slick fella (and woo hoo he is the first black prez of the US. I was hoping for Michael Jordan by the way). And there is no doubt about it that he is gonna make it. We all- the entire “outside of the US/ the other 98% of the planet” – are hoping for it, but at the same time… (more…)

America’s Secret War

3. November 2008 by chrome

Is the US already at war with Iran? In “America’s Secret War”, Vanguard correspondent Mariana van Zeller travels to the Iraq-Iran border to investigate claims that the United States is supporting militant groups that are attacking Iran. In the rugged Qandil mountains, she meets with up with anti-Iranian guerillas who have been launching deadly raids against the Islamic Republic. A good percentage of the fighters are women, and Mariana accompanies a small group of them through what many believe has become the frontline of the US’s secret war with Iran.
