Hey now, i have alwway been a huge fan of kiva.org the micro loan website for people in need of help all over the world. And recently i have discovered kickstarter.com which does a similiar thing, but only by focusing on discovering and funding projects in your area. why not take the extremly well-working idea of microaloans to the next level and apply it to art projects and other creative or interesting stuff that needs private funding – in order to keep its independence and thus originality.

big fan of ours on this side of the atlantic.

YUM YUM with DJ Eleven (The RUB) @ 100Meister Sat 18th

Join the Facebook event!

It’s already been a year since we had The RUB playing at YUM YUM on their European tour ‘08. Back then Joe, Cosmo, Andre and I developed that crazy pasta sandwich franchise thing which we thought would be huge by now. Unfortunately we got caught up in lawyer madness and heavy couching and therefor everybody’s still djing. So grab your dancing shoes and bring a friend when DJ Eleven and myself deliver you the latest goods from N.Y. and in YUM YUM sound at the well known 100Meister on Sat 18th. Doors will be open by 11PM sharp but my advice would be to be an early bird so you’re sure to get in.

Feel free to grab DJ Eleven’s European Vacation Mix via his website (direct link). Only for a limited time. Tracklist after the jump!

ps: In case you’re sick of Lady Gaga’s Pokerface – this could be just the right thing for you!

Can you hear this?

Can you hear this? Hearing test

via noiseaddicts.com

Here is a list of tones that go from 8Hz all the way up to 22,000Hz. It’s fairly common for people who are over 25 years of age to not be able to hear above 15Hz, so this will help you find out where your high frequency hearing cuts off.

Musicians have a much higher risk of hearing loss that most people do, and many of us don’t really wear proper hearing protection. Even just listening to an ipod for an extended period of time can permanently damage your hearing. We also gradually lose our high-frequency hearing as we age.

Take our unscientific hearing test: listen to each of these tones and let us know at where your hearing cuts out…”

Eagle Vs Shark

Eagle Vs Shark

Eagle Vs Shark is a lovely movie released in 2007 and somehow slipped through my fingers. I stumbled across it by watching some Flight of the Conchords clips on YouTube. The movie features the talent of Jemaine Clement who is the singing part of Flight of the Choncords.

Download Eagle Vs Shark right here. Plus you’ll need a little app to put together all the files. It’s called HJSplit and can be found here.

PS: You have to watch Jemaine Clement in Action Fighter!!

Soul Saviour

Another beautiful soul tune for the cold winter times, is Alicia Keys at her best. One of the few pop-status entertainers that i actually dig. Her new track Saviour has that new Soul touch that takes you back to the 60ies.

Learn how to create your own music and remixes

I recently found an excellent site with a bunch of tutorials covering almost everything necessary when it comes to music production. The blog is ran by music pros plus the tutorials are suited for beginners as well as for experts. The site is called AUDIOTUTS and can be found here.

Here are a few examples:

How to create and dominate Hip-Hop drums (Yaaaawn… yeah… dominate yourself!)

How to record the best live drum set ever

How to DJ with Ableton Live

So go and create your own (as Sony puts it).
