Marvin’s piano-accompanied monologue before his performance of ‘What’s Goin’ On’ at the original Motown 25 show was, even at the age of twelve or thirteen, my favorite segment at the time. He spoke about the how Motown grew, and what the music was about and what it reminded him of as he thought back through the years. It’s absolutely overdue in this age of sampling and collection pillaging that someone thought to use snippets like this in such a remix. Fantastic!

“What’s Going On” is an album I carry with me all the time – The new grooves in this remix are absolutely stunning and I really do understand what you mean now…. “how your sunshine sounds.”

Was very intrigued by the total change in harmonic structure (What’s Goin On transposed to a minor, darker key in music). Some of the chords don’t work as well in my opinion, but the grooves – SICK.
