Although originally from 2009, it just came out in late 2011, or at least thats when it was available to me. Taken from the Solo Banton EP “Music Addict” Out via Juno peoples. Great tune and a current favourite of mine, fits in any mix and breaks down everything.

These two guys have a good taste when it comes to food and even a better taste when it comes to the tunes they knock out. Homegrown heroes who are really fun to hang out with, that know their way around the bass, so let your body slowine to this one. 2 Great tunes from their forthcoming double single, expected on February 10th, in 9 days, of their new album ”Dirty Dancing”. Epic title, i was even thinking of calling a club night like that, so that’s the proper Zeitgeist meine Herren! The first one is a cumbia like slow & techy badboy called “Slowine” and the 2nd one is a minimal but tough dancehall tune called “Dickie Riddem”. This live cover version was recorded last december in the stairwell of a famed canadian high schools in peterborough, canada. Some bureaucratic canadian authority (committee) chose to close the one school that focuses on unique arts. Here are two graduates from that school performing a song and giving support to their fight to keep their school open. The finer things in life are the first to go, when the rich start losing money. I honestly think, that if these talented young girls were to put their songs on kickstarter in a form of a cd or download, they could raise a whole lot of money, if not for their cause, then at least for their fight. And i would love to put one of your songs on my Sweet Serenade Mixtapes, which i will.

The japanese beatmaker wizard, Nujabes passed away in early 2010 in a car accident.
At first i decided not to write about it, even when one of my best friends, who had taken on the same path, told me about him and asked me if i knew Nujabes. It was a keeper, not something to put on a website, but more and more synchronicities reappeared throughout the past year and especially in recent times and i changed my mind, so i thought i might share it with the hive. There are no more secrets.
He used to work in a record store in Japan, that was ordering records from the same distributor, that was handling my releases at that time, as well as his very own. Though i never directly talked to him, i remember the guy who was handling the distribution (Harry) telling me how much he (Nujabes) liked what i was doing/releasing and was ordering good stacks of it, and it was no different with me and his records, so it was going back and forth through a third party. I particularly remember going crazy for a 12″ he did with Funky DL which had none of the common MPC sounds of these days, while i had a half acoustic release with a underground rap group called Tryflyn which he was going mental for, and we were loving each others material. He tried to make a different sound, even at that time (which was like at least 10 year ago). There is a lot of good stuff i remember about him and there were even more connections. We never met face to face but it seems that even then i knew that there were similarities.
Now after his death, i see more and more people worshipping his legacy and the spiritual path he had taken on, after there were no more treasures in the outside world for him to find. He dug deep and his music reveals his (or everyones) inner self. Peace

I don’t know where to buy his many releases online (cds, albums, soundtracks, 12″s, 7″s etc) except a few on amazon. So, look Nujabes up on youtube and enjoy what you will discover.

finally, all us YUM YUM guys are playing like a team again – with a new home it changed drastically, it was everything last weekend but the same old, same old. i loved it! the last 1,5 y have been hard dj wise, but only in munich, playing the big areas only – there was no way you could break any new non-super-appealing tunes to the crowd with a 1k+ crowd. you can only do this on smaller floors, like in the club we got now. i love watching it grow organically. ps. we actually do play like a real team does and its fucking awesome! it all started in munich so, this is where the sounds & mixes need to originate… where the other guys come to get an inspiration and collaborate with us. and we are on a very, very good way there. trust me, i can tell, even after only one night. its about the tunes and a certain feel to it all – a state of mind if you will >>> the timing, the routines and all that other stuff comes naturally. but bouncing from style to style while paying proper respect to all styles and showing knowledge – thats what its about
